Design Technologies Technical Design 1 1 credit CTE 88213/88214
The first instructional course in a sequence of courses that prepares individuals to develop technical knowledge and skills required to plan and prepare scale pictorial interpretations of engineering and design concepts. This includes instruction in the use of 2D/3D CAD software, sketching, drawing layout, geometric construction, orthographic projection, and dimensioning.
Architectural Design 1 1 credit CTE 88202
The first instructional course in a sequence of courses that prepares individuals with knowledge of residential architectural and related construction. This course includes instruction in architectural blueprint reading, sketching, residential floor plans, exterior elevations, and use of CAD software. Instructors should be cautioned to limit the size of the dwelling to 1,100 square feet on the main floor.
Architectural Design 2 1 credit CTE 88253/88254
The second instructional course in a sequence of courses that prepares individuals with knowledge of residential architectural and related construction. This course includes instruction in building materials, building codes, typical wall sections, interior elevations, plot plans, Specifications, electrical plans, architectural renderings, and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software with a major emphasis on 3D. Instructors should be cautioned to limit the size of the dwelling to 1,600 square feet on the main floor.
Technical Design 2 1 credit CTE 88262
Advanced drafting is the third step in understanding the application required to produce a workable drawing. Good sketching techniques should be emphasized when preparing to start a working drawing. Drawings that are assigned should complement the competency and require the student to solve problems, not just copy.
Principals of Engineering 1 credit Science/CTE 88263/88264
This course will introduce students to the engineering design process through the use of 3D modeling software and engineering design principles. Student engineering teams will apply technology, science, and mathematical concepts and skills to solve engineering problems and create innovative designs. Through a series of hands-on activities, students will research, plan, test and document a number of project designs. Instruction includes gaining knowledge of manufacturing materials and processes, sectioning, mechanical drafting, basic welding, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, blueprint reading and technical communication.
Prerequisite: Drafting and Design Technology and CAD Drafting Technology
Fulfills third Science credit requirement.
Automotive Collision Repair 1 1 credit CTE 88063/88064
This is a course that prepares individuals to repair automotive, uni-bodies, fenders, and frames of automobiles. Instruction includes training in non-structural and structural repairs. This course is based on the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) automotive collision task list and the I-CAR training program. Work ethics and productivity are an integral part of the classroom and laboratory activities of this program.
Students may earn up to 6 college credits of concurrent enrollment.
It is strongly recommend that students will have taken or be currently enrolled in welding as a prerequisite for this class.
Automotive Collision Repair 2 1 credit CTE 88073/88074 (Collision Refinishing and Paint )
Students will be introduced to techniques and procedures which will allow them to repair a vehicle that has been involved in a collision. This course allows student to work on personal projects. Students are required to put together a project portfolio. The Techniques that have been learned in the beginning class will be added upon in the advanced class. This class will cover the following: damage analysis, frame construction, frame straightening, custom painting, spot painting, blending, tinting, detailing, welding, cutting, panel replacement and adjustment. Work ethic and productivity are an integral part of the classroom as well as laboratory activities.
Students should take the beginning class and welding before taking this class.
Students may earn up to 6 additional college credits of concurrent enrollment.
Introduction to Automotive 1 credit CTE 88033/88034 (.5 credit 88032)
This course prepares individuals to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles. Instruction includes training in safety, an introduction to engines, fuel, electricity/electronics, cooling, brake systems, drive trains, and suspension systems. Instruction is also given in the adjustment and repair of individual components and systems. These courses are based on the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) task list. Work ethics and productivity are an integral part of the classroom as well as lab activities.
Small Vehicle Technician .5 credit CTE 88102
Small engine repair is a course that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skill to maintain and repair small internal-combustion engines used on portable power equipment, such as lawnmowers, chain saws, rotary tillers, motorcycles, ATV vehicles, and snowmobiles. Work ethics, productivity, and safety are an integral part of the classroom.
Small Vehicle Tech 2 .5 credit CTE 88112
An advanced small engine repair class consisting mainly of laboratory work on personal projects such as four-wheelers. Students will gain a greater depth of knowledge and experience in diagnosing more serious mechanical and electrical problems.
Small Vehicle Technician is a pre-requisite for this class.
ASE General Service Technician 1 credit CTE 88043/88044
This is a program with a sequence of courses that prepares individuals to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles. Instruction includes training in safety, the diagnosis of malfunctions and repair of engines, fuel, electricity/electronics, cooling, brake systems, drive trains, and suspension systems. Instruction is also given in the adjustment and repair of individual components and systems. These courses are based on the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) task list. Work ethics and productivity are an integral part of the classroom.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Automotive.
Welding Technician 1 1 credit CTE 88513/88514
(.5 credit 88512)
This is a yearlong (or Semester) course where students will be introduced to welding and information pertaining to the occupation. Students will receive shop safety instruction and then take a safety test. Students will then be introduced to SMAW (stick welding) and GMAW (MIG welding). Students will work on various types of welds and welding joints using both welding processes to the Instructor’s satisfaction. Students will also learn about OFC (oxy-fuel cutting) and perform a variety of cuts. When the assignments are completed students will be able to fabricate a project using their new skills (Yearlong classes only).
Welding Technician 2 1 credit CTE 88523/88524
This is a yearlong course where returning students will build upon skills learned in Welding I. Students will work on various types of welds and welding joints using FCAW (flux cored) and GTAW (TIG welding) to the Instructor’s satisfaction. They will also have to perform several cuts using CAC-A (carbon cutting) and PAC (plasma cutting). Students will also participate in activities to help their employability skills. When the assignments are completed students will be able to fabricate a project using their new skills.

Welding Technician Advanced 1 credit CTE 88533/88534
After passing levels 1 & 2, this class will be devoted entirely for personal project construction. Detailed plans, a bill of materials and pre-payment for material must be made before a project can be started.

Photography and TV Broadcasting
Television Broadcasting and Production 1 credit CTE 86503/86504
Provides students with basic knowledge and skills related to the television broadcasting/production industry. Students will have hands-on experience with broadcast/production equipment and video editing software. Students will produce various projects including news shows, school events, interviews, commercials, short films, documentaries, music videos etc. Student projects will be showcased on the Nebo Education Television Network.
Television Broadcasting .5 credit CTE 86503
Provides students with basic knowledge and skills related to the television broadcasting industry. Students will have hands-on experience with broadcast equipment and video editing software. Students will produce various projects including news shows, school events, interviews, commercials, etc. Students’ projects are showcased on Nebo Education Television Network.
Television Production .5 credit CTE 86504
Designed to provide students with basic knowledge and skills related to the television/video production industry. Students will have hands-on experience with production equipment and video editing software. Students will produce various projects including commercials, short films, documentaries, music videos, etc. Student projects will be showcased on the Nebo Education Television Network.
Basic Digital Photography .5 credit CTE 88302
This course focuses on digital photography as an art form as well as learning the skills necessary in becoming a commercial photographer. Students will learn composition, camera functions, lenses, types of cameras used by photographers, and digital photography including the Adobe Image tools used to manipulate and enhance photos. Various techniques will be learned including shooting with point and shoot cameras. Each student will create a professional looking digital portfolio of their work for presentation. Students should have access to a digital camera.
Commercial Photography 2 .5 Credit CTE 88312
Instruction will be given on studio lighting, composition, the art of photography, types of cameras, lenses, digital printing, and other aspects of commercial photography. This includes working with filters, printmaking techniques and other photography mediums. Students will study many areas of photography including nature, architecture, modeling, weddings, sports, and studio photography. Various techniques will be learned including shooting and scanning photos for digital manipulation using Adobe Photoshop and other imaging tools. Students should have access to a digital camera.
Prerequisite: Photo 1.
Printing .5 Credit CTE
Designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills relative to the graphic design & screen-printing industries. Includes instruction and hands-on experiences in the following areas: history, design & layout, digital prep of designs, one and multiple color processes, indirect and direct stenciling methods, on various substrates. This allows for “live work” experience and provides an overview of the screen-printing and print making industries on the commercial level.
Intro Graphics Communications .5 Credit CTE 86153
This course is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills related to the graphic design and printing industries. Instruction includes hands-on assignments in the following areas: history, design & layout, digital image prep, image assembly/platemaking, press operations, finishing & binding, screen printing, job application & interpersonal skills. The curriculum is based on PrintED competencies.
Intermediate Graphics Communication .5 Credit CTE 86154
A continuation of Introduction to Graphic Communications. The course prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge in the areas of design & layout, digital image prep, image capture, digital file output, press operations, finishing & binding, and screen printing. The course includes instruction in printing, lithographic equipment and operation, computer hardware and software, digital imaging, print preparation, and electronic prepress. The curriculum is based on PrintED competencies.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Graphic Communications.
Communication .5 Credit CTE 86152
Theory and hands-on experiences relative to the printing industry. The skills of the printing industry will be built upon by giving more real world experiences in the areas of digital file preparation, image capture, digital file output, press operations, binding and finishing, measurement, and basic math. The curriculum is aligned with the “Introduction To Graphic Communications” PrintED competencies.
Prerequisite Introduction to Graphic Communications.
Woodworking .5 Credit CTE 88592 (1 credit 88593/88594)
The first instructional course in a sequence that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to lay out and shape stock; assemble projects; saw and sand projects; and stresses the safe use of a variety of hand and power tools and machinery. Students will be using a variety of power and hand tools to construct projects using a variety of woodworking joints. Students pay for materials used in their projects.
Concurrent enrollment is available.
Furniture Design and Manufacturing 1 credit CTE 88603/88604
This is the second instructional course in a sequence that prepares individuals to plan, fabricate, assemble and finish larger furniture projects such as a chest of drawers. Emphasis will be placed on students developing a strong work ethic. Advanced use of woodworking joints and the safe use of hand and power tools and machinery will be stressed. This course prepares individuals for employment involving advanced millwork and cabinet making techniques and joinery operations. Students pay for materials used in their projects.

Basic & Digital Electronics 1 credit CTE 87823/87824
This course introduces students to both analog and digital electronics. Students will learn how to build and design electronic circuits. Instruction includes training in safety, numbering systems, logic circuits, digital devices, combinational logic circuits, and sequential logic circuits. Be prepared for a hands-on course with some theoretical computation.
Fulfills the third science requirement.
Law Enforcement .5 credit CTE 87332
This course prepares individuals to perform the duties of police and public security officers, including patrol and investigative activities, traffic control, crowd control, public relations, witness interviewing, evidence collection and management, court procedures and the law in general. Basic crime prevention methods, equipment maintenance and other routine law enforcement responsibilities are also included.
